Pre-mot Checklist to Help You Prepare For Your Appointment
- Ensure your car is clean – if messy, an examiner may refuse to carry out the test
- Ensure number plates are readable – this is a legal requirement
- Check all lights are working + Check the windscreen wipers – make sure they clean windscreen, no rips etc.
- Check tyre tread and pressure ( Find out how with the 20p test)
- Ensure fluid levels are topped up – screenwash, brake fluid and oil.
- Check if horn is working
- Check your mirrors and whether they are safe to use
- Ensure VIN number in V5c matches the one on your car’s bodywork
- Test the hand break, ensure it can hold your car
- Ensure doors open & close + seat-belts are in working order
